Event Route:

Ride to Grissom ARB (August 29–30)

Start: ALR Post 79, Zionsville.

Leg 1: Take S 975 E/Pleasant View Rd and E 300 S to US-421 N.

Leg 2: Follow US-421 N to IN-32 E, then turn onto W 36th/Mule Barn Rd.

Leg 3: Use W 236th St to merge onto US-31 N toward Jackson Township.

Leg 4: Stay on US-31 N (including IN-931 bypass) to W Hoosier Blvd.

Finish: Follow W Hoosier Blvd directly into Grissom Air Force Base.

Grissom Air Reserve Base, Indiana

 

Charity Beneficiary:

The “Free Flags for Vets” initiative:
Goal: Provide and install U.S. flags and poles for Zionsville/Boone County veterans at no cost by Veterans Day 2026.
Options: Choice of a 20ft in-ground pole ($185–$295) or a 6ft house-mount pole ($60–$100).
Funding: Seeking $1,500 through sponsorships ($100–$250) and earmarked proceeds from Legion rides/raffles.
Action: Riders will form teams to handle all physical installations.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 29th, as American Legion Riders Chapter 79 heads north to Grissom Air Reserve Base!
We’re riding to see the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and to continue our mission for the “Free Flags for Veterans” program.
Staging: 8:00 AM @ Post 79 (Zionsville)
Kickstands Up: 8:30 AM SHARP
Route: Backroads only via US-421 N & IN-29 N
Mission: Every registration fee goes toward providing flagpoles for local veterans.
